Conditioning My New Boots

I got my boots on Ebay. Used. Apparently Ariat Young Men's something but I haven't been able to find them on the site.

A pair of cowboy boots. They are light brown with a maroon shaft that has red, yellow, and turquoise embroidery.

They were dry and indeed, showed some wear and tear from their use. There were loose threads and scuffed bits here and there.

A close-up of the bootstraps, showing the dried damaged leather and frayed threads. Close-up on the vamp, the brown top part of the boot, showing the dry wrinkled leather and frayed embroidery on the shaft Close-up of the soles, showing more frayed threads

I cleaned and conditioned them with some Bick 4. I poured some onto a rag and simply rubbed it all over the outside of the shoe. They were not as dirty as expected. I trimmed the stray threads with scissors, then used a lighter to burn them down.

The boots from a higher angle, now moisturized and cleaned.

The color change is mostly just my camera. I think they saturated slightly, but not as much as it appears in the photos.

Close-up of the soles, some threads are still frayed but they're cleaned a bit more now. Close-up of the vamp, now hydrated with all threads trimmed. The shaft of the boots, showing the trimmed and cleaned up bootstraps as well as the trimmed embroidery.
